Packing
Packing for a trip is never easy! Before you head to the airport, check out your airline’s policy on luggage and carry-ons.
Trick: If the airline is only allowing one personal item or if your backpack isn’t enough space, try placing the backpack inside a larger tote bag. I’ve found it’ll still only count as one item, but you’ll have two bags you can use during your trip 😏
Trick: If you still need more space, try using a pillow case and stuff your clothes inside. Usually a pillow doesn’t count against your number of carry on items 😉
Lastly, if you roll your clothes instead of folding them or shoving them into your carry-on bag, you can fit more.
2. Saving Time and Money During Trips
There are a few ways to save time and money while you’re traveling.
Trick: I recommend using Groupon for any activities you want to book. For example, in Hawaii the average price of a surfing lesson is around $90. I found a surfing lesson on Groupon for $55 and then found another coupon for an added 25% off (Groupon often has promos), so I ended up saving more than 50% off the regular price.
Trick: Also, if you’re traveling with a group, use your size to negotiate group discounts. Many attractions and activities offer group rates.
Trick: Are you planning on going to a museum or venue with limited capacity? Book your tickets online ahead of time and cut the line. I spent hours in line for the Louvre in the middle of summer because I didn’t plan ahead.
